Choosing a wrench depends on the kind of container you have, and what is inside. There are different wrenches for different needs, just find the one right for you. A plug (bung) wrench may be what you need for your drums, but remember when working with flammables - use a bronze or aluminum wrench to prevent sparks. Many wrenches are universal - they open a wide range of plugs, but longer wrenches give extra leverage. The 950Z is a good all-purpose wrench made of cast iron, and it is strong, compact, and inexpensive. The RWA is a very light aluminum wrench that works with most steel and plastic plugs, while the 975M is bronze and stronger than the RWA. The 59 is 16" long and opens every drum plug we found. It comes in iron, bronze, or aluminum - you choose which one. There are Torque Wrenchs which meet UN-specifications for hazardous material drum plugs which are required to be tightened to the proper torque. Check out our sockets and our new IBC torque wrench. A must have when setting the torque on your IBC container.
